2023 AGM Award Winners & Red Riding Hood Readthrough

At our AGM on Tuesday 5th September 2023 we presented our annual awards:

- The Vanessa Cowell Memorial Shield for Outstanding Contribution to Saffron Players, was awarded to Martyn Lee for taking on the producer role single handedly for Princess and the Pea.

- The Chairman Young Member Awards, were awarded to:

Freya Bryant for her performance as Prince Cuthbert.

Lacie Thomas for her assistance with the youth cast backstage.

Georgie Bridgeman and Rhona Tealby-Watson for their assistance as part of our makeup team.

- The Comedy Spoon, was awarded to Evie Nash for her costume ‘readjustment’ while playing the part of Dart Tart!

- Special mentions (and a bottle of gin) were given to former chairman Hugh Moss and former head chaperone Jackie Jones, who both stepped down from the committee after many years of service.

The awards were announced by chairman Euan MacRae and presented by long serving member Keira Gibson and head chaperone Paula Chapman.

Well done to our winners!

This was followed by an amazing turn out for our Red Riding Hood pantomime read through. Auditions are on Saturday 9th September 2023.

NODA Awards 2022 - We Won!

On 16th April 2023, our 2022 pantomime production of Rapunzel won the NODA East, District 7 award for Best Pantomime. Congratulations to all the cast and crew.

Congratulations also to our friends at Clavering Players for their nomination and Saffron Walden Musical Theatre Company who took home the award of Best Musical for Kinky Boots.
